Stripping

Remove the old coating. Prepare for recoating.

Stripping can enable coated tools to be reconditioned. The appropriate process depends on the existing coating, the substrate material and the condition of the tool.

NOVA Coating

Stripping in detail.

Depending on the coating, wet chemical processes or abrasive blasting may be suitable. These can alter the surface, and repolishing may be required. We agree on further reconditioning and recoating for each tool.

  • Assessment of the existing coating system
  • Compatibility with the substrate material
  • Strip, repolish if necessary and recoat
  • Third-party coatings on request
Schematic process

The path to a new coating.

  1. Existing coating

    Assess the initial condition

Assess the existing coating, substrate material and tool condition.

  2. Exposed surface

    Remove the coating

Remove the old coating using a process suited to the tool.

  3. New functional coating

    Recoat

Recondition the tool and apply a new functional coating.
