NOVA Coating offers active-screen plasma nitriding (ASPN) – NADCAP-capable. The treatment can increase the surface-layer hardness of suitable materials and can be combined with subsequent PVD coating.

Surface-layer hardening with ASPN.
In active-screen plasma nitriding, a metal screen surrounds the workpieces. The plasma forms predominantly at this screen. Nitrogen enters the surface zone of suitable materials and can make it harder and more wear-resistant.

Optional combination with PVD.
With suitable process control, PVD coating can follow. This combination is known as duplex treatment. The material, treatment temperature and surface condition determine which process sequence is suitable for the tool.
